Esprimiamo la più ferma indignazione e dissenso nei riguardi della vergognosa e ingiusta sentenza della Corte di Cassazione emessa il 19 novembre. Schmidheiny, amministratore delegate e co-proprietario della Eternit Italia, era state condannato in Appello a 18 anni di carcere per disastro doloso ambientale permanente. Il miliardario svizzero in Cassazione non è state riconosciuto innocente, é il reato che é stato prescritto. Infatti non solo il procuratore generale ma addirittura il suo stesso avvocato hanno ammesso la sa colpevolezza. We express our strongest indignation and disagreement for the shameful and unfair verdict of the Court of Cassation issued on the 19th of November 2014. Schmidheiny, the CEO and co-owner of Eternit Italy had been sentenced to 18 years in prison for permanent wilful disaster. In the Court of Cassation the Swiss billionaire was not acquitted, it was the crime that fell under the statute of limitations: in fact both Chief Public Prosecutor, and even his lawyer described him as guilty. È una mostruosità e una vergogna quella di considerate come prescritto un reato che ha già provocato oltre 3000 vittime, e che nella sola Casale uccide una persona ogni settimana. Proprio oggi il disastro di SS ha mietuto l'ennesima vittima. Pertanto questa sentenza viola i principe fondamentali delle Convenzioni sui diritti umani: le garanzie di legge nei confronti dell'imputato non possono in alcun modo cancellare il diritto alla giustizia di migliaia di vittime. It is a monstrosity and an outrage to apply the statute of limitation to a crime which has already caused 3,000 deaths, is still killing and still will, and that in Casale alone murder a person a week: today as we write these words Schmidheiny’s disaster has killed another victim. La responsabilità personale per un così grave crimine di impresa non può essere annullata per tecnicismi formale. La lotta non finisce qui, intraprenderemo tutte le azioni legali e di mobilitazione sociale possibili in tutti il mondo, compreso qualunque caso contra l'Eternit, come il processo a sStephan Schmidheny per omicidio volontario che verrà celebrato prossimamente a Torino. This verdict violates the fundamental principles of International Conventions on Human Rights: the legal guarantees of the defendants must in no way not cancel the rights of the thousands of victims of the crime. The verdict says that personal responsibility for corporate crime can be annulled by arbitrary legal technicalities. Our struggle continues: we shall pursue all the legal avenues and social mobilization throughout the world, including any case against Eternit, such as the case against Schmidheiny for murder soon to be heard in Turin. Il coordinamento internazionale riunito a Casale il 21 novembre esprime solidarietà alle vittime e ai familiari di Casale e del mondo. Non sara questa vergognosa sentenza a fermarci.
